On May 20th, 1984, Cynthia and Anthony Coppola gave birth to their 2nd son, Michael Victor Anthony Coppola. Michael was always a crazy kid. As a matter of fact, he was left behind one year when he was in kindergarten because he could never sit in his seat (and because he colored a squirrel blue… but that’s beside the point).
In the sixth grade Michael was introduced to the likes of LL Cool J, Young MC, MC Hammer, and Tupac Shakur. It wasn’t long before Michael started writing his own raps over instrumentals on cassette tapes.
As Michael made his way into Junior High, he began taking more of an interest into theatre and acting. Soon he was playing the leads in high school productions and auditioning for film and commercials in New York City. By the time Michael hit 10th grade, he was casted as an “extra” in the movie Emperors Club starring Kevin Kline. Throughout the two months on set in New York City and upstate Troy, New York, he was upgraded to a principle role in the film and was casted as Russell Hall. Although Michael had a passion for acting, he realized he had an even bigger passion for writing and music.
In September of 2003, Michael attended Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York. For the next four years he took classes in business management, music business, and audio engineering. In March of his junior year, Michael founded and built Get Open Studios in Holbrook, New York with the help of his dad Anthony. In November of that very same year, now a senior, Michael reached out to a couple of his classmates to perform for the Hip Hop show at his school. This group of gentlemen would later form to create the eclectic band known as The Senate.
